About the Hyundai Sonata

There are two models sold under this name, the Sonata and the Sonata Hybrid. The 2013 Hyundai Sonata is available in three styles: GLS, SE and Limited. The GLS comes with impressive standard features: a trip computer, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, an iPod/USB audio interface and an auxiliary audio jack. The SE and Limited offer all of these features and more.

While the Hyundai earns top ratings in safety, design and fuel economy from reviewers, it receives slightly less stellar marks for performance. “As far as driving dynamics are concerned, the 2013 Hyundai Sonata strikes a perfectly acceptable balance between comfort and confidence,” according to Edmunds.

Hyundai Sonata Environmental Impact

The Sonata carries a 35 mpg EPA highway rating and a city rating of 24 mpg for a blended fuel economy of 28 mpg. Although classified by the EPA as a large car, the Sonata outperforms many small cars in overall fuel economy.

The sleek 2018 Sonata Hybrid kicks the highway gas mileage up to 40 mpg. Hyundai touts its “next-generation lithium polymer battery technology,” which delivers the same power as a traditional battery with less weight and more efficiency. It also comes with a lifetime battery warranty.
