California residents can be part of beta before national rollout

RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 15, 2014 – The typical California driver pays an average car insurance annual premium of $746, ranking California the 21st most-expensive state in the country when it comes to car insurance, according to figures from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. That is about to change, however, as Californians have a new tool at their disposal to make shopping for car insurance easier: Compare.com. Compare.com, a car insurance comparison website, delivers multiple car insurance quotes from trusted auto insurance brands and allows drivers to find the best value according to their needs.

“We’re used to online comparison shopping for things like airline tickets, hotel rooms and rental cars, said Andrew Rose, CEO of Compare.com. At this point, it’s a no-brainer for consumers to comparison shop for car insurance. It’s a significant annual expense most of us would like to reduce. Compare.com lets you enter pertinent details like your driver and car info just once, and you’ll instantly receive quotes you can act upon to purchase a policy. We provide an apples-to-apples comparison based on your information so you’ll see who’s best for your particular situation.

January and February are the two most popular months for consumers to evaluate and purchase car insurance policies, according to LexisNexis data. Typically, this heavy purchase volume relates to consumers examining finances as they enter the new year and summer moves across state lines creating the need for policy evaluations six months later.

Consumers who use Compare.com to find their next car insurance policy will see potential polices listed from least expensive to most expensive, and the companies quoting through Compare.com do not receive preferential treatment, allowing a level playing field for consumers. And, of course, the site is free for consumers.

As Compare.com is launching in beta in California before a national rollout during 2014, the number of quotes each consumer will see will vary according to their individual circumstances. Compare.com is working with multiple car insurance carriers so that consumers can comparison shop all in one place. Policy purchases are then made directly from a carrier’s website.
