Key Takeaways
  • The monthly cost to insure a Mustang Mach-E is $208, roughly 28% higher than the national average of $163 for all vehicles.

  • USAA offers the cheapest average rates for the Mustang Mach-E, at just $113 per month, followed closely by State Farm, at $125 per month.

  • While higher EV repair costs and vehicle values drive up premiums, the Mustang Mach-E’s standard safety technology can help reduce insurance costs.

Average Car Insurance Cost for the Ford Mustang Mach-E

When you’re insuring a high-tech EV like the Mustang Mach-E, your premium depends heavily on the type of policy you buy.

A liability-only policy covers the basics, paying for injuries or property damage you cause to others. But it won’t pay to repair your own Mustang if you cause an accident. For that, you’ll want full coverage, which typically includes collision insurance for accidents and comprehensive coverage for non-collision events like theft, fire, or weather-related damage.

Here’s how average monthly costs for the Mustang Mach-E compare to all vehicles, according to Compare.com data.

Rate hikes yet again. Leaving USAA after 28 years.

They have significantly increased rates over the last few years. I have excellent credit, a clean driving record, and no claims, yet rates increased again this renewal by another $160 per 6 months. My rate has increased over $400 in the last 18 months to now $1562.68 for 6 months.

Our experience with USAA was horrendous. We lost our home to Hurricane Beryl. Having been a member for 27 years and never making any claims, this experience was indescribable. USAA, to whom we had paid $410.36 for years, had me doing their job. No tickets, no DUI, and a 20-year-old driver. That is too expensive for anyone. After Beryl, there was no power, which meant no electricity, no internet, no open stores, no food, and no gas. By the beginning of the second month, USAA tried to make Texas Wind and Air responsible, then FEMA, for paying for the broken roof, fallen trees, flooded home, and damaged AC. We decided to pack up and move on our own dime again. USAA is and always will be a ripoff. Very expensive to be a USAA member. Never again. We are just fine with AAA. Personally, the old ways of taking care of folks with insurance are only found and available with AAA. USAA has not stopped offering me a job with their claims department since Hurricane Beryl, though. I must know what I am doing better than my agent, who got fired for drinking and falsifying claims documents. There's more to the storyline with USAA. Plan on having to call them constantly to make sure they are at work.

Currently Disgruntled with State Farm Insurance
Reviewed in Oregon on December 2025
Due to State Farm also being our homeowner insurance, and due to them canceling our homeowner insurance and the emotional effect of this cancellation, we are not too happy with State Farm. When pricing other home insurance providers, we learned from these potential providers that we were paying considerably higher for our State Farm car insurance than other insurance companies. Thus, if I were to advise a friend regarding State Farm, I would tell them my experience was that I found much cheaper car insurance with other providers. However, the agent LuAnn Davidson, our State Farm agent, on four different occasions went to bat for us (took our side) when we had issues with State Farm and caused the issue to be resolved in our favor. We were with State Farm for more than 10 years. I would advise my friend if you are going with State Farm, have LuAnn be your agent.

State Farm is an excellent choice, especially if you value face-to-face service. While the insurer may lack some niche EV perks, its Drive Safe & Save program is compatible with connected cars, such as the Mustang Mach-E.

You potentially could earn a significant discount based on your actual driving habits. But it doesn’t offer gap insurance, which is something to consider given how quickly new EVs can depreciate.

Pros
  • Large agent network

  • Highly rated mobile app

  • Available nationwide

Cons
  • No gap insurance available

  • Fewer optional coverages

  • Rates can be higher for drivers with poor credit

Ford Mustang Mach-E Insurance Rates by Model Year

The Mustang Mach-E debuted in 2021, so you won’t see a wide variation in premiums across model years. Generally, new vehicles cost more to insure because they’re worth more and cost more to replace if your insurer declares your vehicle a total loss after an accident.

As your Mach-E ages and its value decreases, your premiums will likely decline, giving you modest savings over time. Here’s a look at average monthly premiums by Mustang Mach-E model year, based on our data.

Deep Dive: What Affects Mustang Mach-E Car Insurance Rates?

The Mustang Mach-E stands out among EVs for multiple reasons, including its status as an electric version of the classic Mustang. It’s also a relatively affordable EV, with base versions starting with an MSRP of around $40,000.[6]

Several key factors influence how much you’ll pay to insure a Ford Mustang Mach-E, including:

  • Repair costs: While EVs often have lower scheduled maintenance costs, accident repairs are a different story. Specialized parts and labor mean fixing a Mustang Mach-E after a crash can be more expensive and take longer than fixing a traditional car, which insurers factor into your rate.

  • Vehicle value: With comparatively low starting prices for base models, the Mustang Mach-E may have a modest replacement cost. But MSRPs rise significantly for higher trims like the GT, which can cost around $60,000.

  • Vehicle age: The Mustang Mach-E debuted in the Ford lineup in 2021, and older models have depreciated significantly, losing about 57% of their original value after five years.[7] If you have an older Mach-E, replacing it will cost your insurer less, so your premiums will generally be lower than those for a 2026 Mustang Mach-E.

  • Safety features: Standard safety features like front crash prevention, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking can help offset some costs by reducing accident frequency.

  • Vehicle theft risk: While theft risk has a lot to do with where you live and drive your Mustang Mach-E, the good news is that it’s not generally a primary target for car thieves. In fact, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) includes the Mach-E on its list of least-stolen vehicles.[8]

How to Get Cheaper Car Insurance for Your Mustang Mach-E

Ford Mustang Mach-E parked on the side of the road

You don’t have to pay premium prices to drive a premium EV. Here are several ways to lower your Mustang Mach-E insurance costs:

  • Claim your green vehicle discount. Many major insurers offer specific discounts just for driving a hybrid or electric vehicle, which can help lower your premium.

  • Leverage safety technology. Ensure your insurance company is aware that your Mustang Mach-E comes equipped with safety features, including automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. These reduce accident risk and often qualify you for vehicle safety discounts.

  • Consider pay-per-mile insurance. If your Mustang Mach-E is a secondary car or you work from home, a usage-based program could save you a significant amount by charging based on how much you drive.

  • Bundle your policies. Buying your home and auto insurance with the same insurer is one of the best ways to lower your premiums.
