  • Audi A5 insurance averages $185 per month, which is 13% higher than the national average of $163 per month for all cars.

  • USAA offers the lowest rate for A5 drivers, with an average premium of $107 per month.

Rate hikes yet again. Leaving USAA after 28 years.
Reviewed in Arizona on July 2025
They have significantly increased rates over the last few years. I have excellent credit, a clean driving record, and no claims, yet rates increased again this renewal by another $160 per 6 months. My rate has increased over $400 in the last 18 months to now $1562.68 for 6 months.

Our experience with USAA was horrendous. We lost our home to Hurricane Beryl. Having been a member for 27 years and never making any claims, this experience was indescribable. USAA, to whom we had paid $410.36 for years, had me doing their job. No tickets, no DUI, and a 20-year-old driver. That is too expensive for anyone. After Beryl, there was no power, which meant no electricity, no internet, no open stores, no food, and no gas. By the beginning of the second month, USAA tried to make Texas Wind and Air responsible, then FEMA, for paying for the broken roof, fallen trees, flooded home, and damaged AC. We decided to pack up and move on our own dime again. USAA is and always will be a ripoff. Very expensive to be a USAA member. Never again. We are just fine with AAA. Personally, the old ways of taking care of folks with insurance are only found and available with AAA. USAA has not stopped offering me a job with their claims department since Hurricane Beryl, though. I must know what I am doing better than my agent, who got fired for drinking and falsifying claims documents. There's more to the storyline with USAA. Plan on having to call them constantly to make sure they are at work.

Why we picked this company

USAA is one of the most affordable options for Audi A5 drivers who qualify for membership. The company offers generous discounts, including shopping and travel perks, and consistently scores high for customer service, according to J.D. Power.

The insurer has limited customer service hours and few local branches, so you should be comfortable managing your policy through its online portal or mobile app.

Pros
  • Cheap Audi A5 rates

  • Top-rated customer service[1]

  • Superior financial strength rating[2]

Cons
  • Must meet military eligibility criteria

  • No vanishing deductible rewards

  • Few physical locations

Currently Disgruntled with State Farm Insurance
Reviewed in Oregon on December 2025
Due to State Farm also being our homeowner insurance, and due to them canceling our homeowner insurance and the emotional effect of this cancellation, we are not too happy with State Farm. When pricing other home insurance providers, we learned from these potential providers that we were paying considerably higher for our State Farm car insurance than other insurance companies. Thus, if I were to advise a friend regarding State Farm, I would tell them my experience was that I found much cheaper car insurance with other providers. However, the agent LuAnn Davidson, our State Farm agent, on four different occasions went to bat for us (took our side) when we had issues with State Farm and caused the issue to be resolved in our favor. We were with State Farm for more than 10 years. I would advise my friend if you are going with State Farm, have LuAnn be your agent.

Why we picked this company

State Farm is one of the few insurers that has local agents nationwide, making it a good fit for A5 owners who want personalized service. But customer service can vary by agency, so it may be worth checking reviews before selecting an agent if there are multiple in your area. That said, State Farm offers a highly rated mobile app to manage your policies and file and track claims.[3]

Pros
  • Young driver discounts available

  • Large agent network

  • 24/7 claims service

Cons
  • Fewer coverage options than competitors

  • Below-average customer reviews[4]

  • No gap insurance

Audi A5 Insurance Rates by Model Year

The age of your Audi A5 plays a significant role in determining the cost of your insurance. Newer cars usually cost more to insure because their parts and repair costs are higher, and that means insurers would have to pay more if you file a claim.

As the car’s value drops over time, so do its premiums. That’s why older A5 models tend to have lower rates. The table below shows average insurance rates for the Audi A5 by model year, based on our data.

Experience behind the wheel makes a big difference in what you’ll pay to insure your A5. Teens face the steepest rates because they’re more likely to be in an accident, while rates tend to drop through your 20s and 30s as driving experience builds.[7] Senior drivers typically have the lowest rates due to their driving experience and safer driving habits.[8]

Cheapest Audi A5 car insurance for teens and drivers younger than 25

Younger drivers pay higher premiums because insurers take on more risk by insuring them. Teen crash rates are nearly three times as high as those of adults per mile driven. Their inexperience makes them less able to recognize and react to danger, and more likely to engage in risky driving behaviors like speeding.

The table below shows average Audi A5 insurance rates for drivers younger than 25, according to our analysis.

Audi A5 Insurance Rates by Driving Record

Your driving history is like a roadmap to your risk of accidents. If you have a clean driving record, you’re less likely to cause an accident that leads to a claim. But if you have tickets, crashes, or driving under the influence (DUI) convictions, insurers know you’re more likely to file a claim.

Drivers with good records typically get the lowest rates. But if you have moving violations, you’ll pay more to insure your Audi A5.

Here’s a look at average A5 insurance rates by driving record, according to Compare.com data.

Cheapest Audi A5 insurance for drivers with a DUI

Drivers with a DUI often face the steepest rate increases because they have the greatest risk of causing an accident and a much higher likelihood of filing a significant liability claim. In fact, 32 people die daily in alcohol-related car crashes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).[10]

To get your driving privileges back after a DUI, you may need your insurance company to file an SR-22 or FR-44 with the state. These documents prove you have the required amount of insurance to get your license reinstated.

Deep Dive: What Affects Audi A5 Car Insurance Rates?

A few key factors come into play when determining insurance rates for the Audi A5, including:

  • Vehicle value: Luxury vehicles like the Audi A5 come with a higher price tag. For example, the 2025 Audi A5 ranges from $50,995 to $57,445.[11] More expensive cars have the potential for higher claim payouts, which means higher insurance rates.

  • High performance: The Audi A5 is a high-performance vehicle with stronger acceleration than a typical sedan. Insurers generally associate higher performance with an increased risk for speeding and more severe collisions, which can raise your premiums.

  • Safety ratings: The Audi A5 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and has a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Strong vehicle safety ratings can help lower premiums.

A luxury and performance vehicle like the Audi A5 typically comes with higher rates, but strategies can help you cut insurance costs:

  • Increase your deductible. Choosing a higher deductible can shrink your monthly premium because you’re taking on more responsibility if you file a claim.

  • Take a defensive driving course. Complete a state-approved defensive driving course to earn a discount from many insurers.

  • Participate in telematics. Show your insurer you’re a safe driver by participating in its usage-based insurance program and reap the rewards with lower rates.

  • Drive responsibly. A clean driving record helps offset the A5’s higher-than-average insurance costs.
