Failure to Serve Our Vets
Pricing and value for your money are poor. Home insurance has become way too expensive. USAA sends you a notice saying they’re renewing your policy, but they don’t clearly tell you what changes they’ve made. When someone says they are renewing your policy, most people assume the contract is the same and they are agreeing to renew it with you. However, USAA makes changes, and it’s up to you to read the entire contract and find any changes they may have made. I personally went from a $1,000 deductible to a 2% deductible and didn’t know it until I made a claim. Now I’ve learned that every six months you have to read the entire contract to see if USAA has made any changes. I’ve lost faith in this company and will only remain with them until I find another company. I’ve also found that if you file a car claim, your insurance will go up at the next renewal. USAA has come under new management, and since then the pricing and customer service have gone down. I’m looking for a company that’s truly concerned about the welfare of its members and dedicated to the people they should be serving.

How Much Car Insurance Do You Need in Albuquerque?

Night view of a city skyline featuring tall buildings with illuminated windows, surrounding urban areas, and a cloudy sky in the background.

All New Mexico drivers must have an auto insurance policy that meets the state-minimum coverage limits. New Mexico’s minimum liability insurance requirements include:[4]

Bodily injury liability coverage helps pay for the other driver’s medical bills if you cause an accident. Property damage liability covers property damage you cause in an accident.

Your policy limits are the maximum amounts that your insurance company will pay if you file a claim.

New Mexico drivers must also carry underinsured/uninsured (UM/UIM) motorist coverage with set limits equal to liability coverage, though you may decline through a waiver.

Should you buy full-coverage insurance in Albuquerque?

Full-coverage car insurance helps cover your vehicle from damage from accidents, collisions, theft, vandalism, and severe weather. It offers more financial protection than liability coverage and even covers your own damages and injuries.

Full coverage typically includes collision insurance and comprehensive coverage, making it a worthwhile investment for most drivers. Serious accidents can easily exceed minimum liability limits, so full coverage can save you thousands of dollars if you need to file a claim.

Other car insurance coverage options in Albuquerque

Beyond the state-minimum coverage requirements, most insurance companies offer additional insurance options. Here are some additional coverages for you to consider:

  • Collision insurance: Collision coverage protects your car if you hit another car, animal, telephone pole, or tree.

  • Comprehensive coverage: Comprehensive insurance protects your car from vandalism, theft, and severe weather.

  • Gap insurance: Gap insurance covers the difference between your car’s value and your loan or lease balance if you total it in an accident.

  • Roadside assistance: Roadside assistance covers things like towing, jump-starts, and flat tires in the event of a breakdown.
