Key Takeaways
  • The average monthly insurance premium for a Honda Fit is $113, which is 32% lower than the national average of $166 across all vehicles.

  • USAA offers the lowest rates for Fit drivers, averaging $56 per month.

  • The Fit’s budget-friendly price, high safety marks, and low theft risk keep insurance costs low.

Average Car Insurance Cost for the Honda Fit

When shopping for car insurance, your cost depends on the protection you buy. Liability coverage pays for damage you cause to others, but it doesn’t protect your car. Full coverage adds collision coverage and comprehensive insurance. While collision pays to fix your vehicle after a crash, comprehensive covers theft, hail, vandalism, and other non-collision events.

Here’s the insurance pricing breakdown for Honda Fit owners compared to the average for all vehicles, according to Compare.com data.

Liability insurance is the cheapest coverage type, averaging $79 per month for Fit drivers, while full coverage costs an average of $147 per month. Both options fall below the national average cost of car insurance for all vehicles.

Your address, age, driving history, and the company you choose can move your car insurance quote up or down.

Rate hikes yet again. Leaving USAA after 28 years.

They have significantly increased rates over the last few years. I have excellent credit, a clean driving record, and no claims, yet rates increased again this renewal by another $160 per 6 months. My rate has increased over $400 in the last 18 months to now $1562.68 for 6 months.

Our experience with USAA was horrendous. We lost our home to Hurricane Beryl. Having been a member for 27 years and never making any claims, this experience was indescribable. USAA, to whom we had paid $410.36 for years, had me doing their job. No tickets, no DUI, and a 20-year-old driver. That is too expensive for anyone. After Beryl, there was no power, which meant no electricity, no internet, no open stores, no food, and no gas. By the beginning of the second month, USAA tried to make Texas Wind and Air responsible, then FEMA, for paying for the broken roof, fallen trees, flooded home, and damaged AC. We decided to pack up and move on our own dime again. USAA is and always will be a ripoff. Very expensive to be a USAA member. Never again. We are just fine with AAA. Personally, the old ways of taking care of folks with insurance are only found and available with AAA. USAA has not stopped offering me a job with their claims department since Hurricane Beryl, though. I must know what I am doing better than my agent, who got fired for drinking and falsifying claims documents. There's more to the storyline with USAA. Plan on having to call them constantly to make sure they are at work.

USAA offers low premiums for Honda Fit drivers and is known for top customer satisfaction. You need military ties to join — either through your own service or a qualifying family member. But if you qualify, USAA offers military-specific coverage, rental reimbursement, and bundling discounts.

Pros
  • Top rated for customer satisfaction[1]

  • Unique military perks

Cons
  • Few physical locations

  • Military eligibility required

Honda Fit Insurance Rates by Driver Age

New drivers are more likely to be in a car accident, which is why age is a top factor in calculating car insurance costs.[3]

The average monthly cost of car insurance across age groups shows a price drop after drivers reach their 20s. The table below shows average monthly premiums for Honda Fit drivers by age group, according to Compare.com data.

Cheapest Honda Fit car insurance for teens and drivers younger than 25

Teens have the highest car insurance premiums. Their inexperience puts them at a higher risk of fatal crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).[4] But insurers don’t charge young drivers the same rate across the board. Some companies place less emphasis on age when calculating car insurance quotes.

The following five companies have the lowest average premiums for teen Fit drivers, according to Compare.com data.

Cheapest Rates for Young Drivers

Cheapest Honda Fit car insurance for seniors

Drivers in their 60s often see the lowest insurance rates. Senior drivers tend to reduce their mileage and limit driving after dark, which lowers their accident risk, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).[5]

Some companies offer senior-specific discounts. And even though seniors already have low rates, comparing quotes from several companies can help you find a better deal.

The table below shows the companies with the lowest average monthly rates for senior Honda Fit owners, according to Compare.com data.

Honda Fit Insurance Rates by Driving Record

Your driving record affects the car insurance quotes you get. Some traffic violations stay on your record for five years or more. A history of tickets and accidents tells insurers you’re more likely to file future claims.

The table below outlines your average monthly Honda Fit insurance costs by driving record, according to Compare.com data.

One speeding ticket can increase your rates by 34%, while a driving under the influence (DUI) conviction can add 61% to your car insurance bill.

Cheapest Honda Fit insurance for drivers with a speeding ticket

Speeding tickets flag you as a high-risk driver. The effect depends on the situation. A ticket for driving 10 mph over the speed limit won’t spike your rate as much as one for going 30 mph over. Driving at higher speeds leaves you with less time to react, increasing the odds of a crash, according to the IIHS.[6]

A ticket on your record makes comparing rates even more important. The following insurers offer the lowest average monthly rates for Fit drivers with a speeding ticket, according to Compare.com data.

Cheapest Rates With a Ticket

Cheapest Honda Fit insurance for drivers with an accident

An at-fault accident can increase your premiums. Insurers consider your long-term risk, and a past accident is a strong indicator of future risk, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).[7]

But not all companies weigh accidents equally. Plus, if you have an auto insurance policy with accident forgiveness, you can minimize the financial hit.

The chart below shows the insurers with the lowest average monthly Honda Fit rates following an at-fault accident, according to Compare.com data.

Cheapest Rates With an Accident

Cheapest Honda Fit insurance for drivers with a DUI

A DUI conviction leads to the most significant rate hike. Driving under the influence also greatly increases your crash risk, according to the NHTSA.[8] After a DUI, your state may require an SR-22 or FR-44 filing, which is proof that you have minimum insurance coverage. Some companies specialize in high-risk policies, so comparing quotes can help you find lower rates.

Here’s a look at average premiums from top companies for Honda Fit drivers with a DUI on their record, according to our data.

How to Get Cheaper Car Insurance for Your Honda Fit

Side profile of a blue Honda Fit parked in a tropical area

It’s possible to lower your already affordable Honda Fit premiums with a few strategic moves:

  • Upgrade your trim level. The Fit EX and EX-L come standard with Honda Sensing, which can qualify you for safety features discounts.

  • Raise your deductible. If you have enough savings, consider a higher deductible to lower your Fit premiums.

  • Get quotes from multiple companies. A few minutes spent on an insurance comparison site can result in a couple of hundred dollars in savings on Honda Fit coverage.
