Honda Ridgeline Insurance

June 18, 2018

The Honda Ridgeline first hit the streets in March 2005. The first-generation Ridgeline ranges from 2005-2014, with the second-generation ranging from 2017 to present. Between 2014 – 2017 the Ridgeline was not being produced. This sports utility truck (SUT) is a great choice if you’re in the market for a nice mid-sized pick-up truck. It received Car and Driver’s best mid-sized truck in 2017 and 2018, beating out other popular brands like the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Toyota Tacoma.

The Ridgeline is only one of two trucks that Honda currently produces; Honda Acty being the other truck which is designed for the Japanese market. Some differences you may see between the first-generation and second-generation are as follows:

  • The horsepower went from 250hp – 280hp
  • The cargo bed increased by 4 inches
  • The wheelbase grew by 3 inches
  • Both generations use a unibody architecture found on the Honda Pilot and Odyssey

When comparing to similar sports utility trucks, the Honda Ridgeline beat out the Colorado and Tacoma in the 0-60 test and the ¼ mile test. However, it did have a slightly lower towing capacity than those guys, coming in at 5000lbs.

In terms of safety, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it an excellent rating and Top Safety Pick for 2018. It also received a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration making it more affordable to buy car insurance for the Honda Ridgeline.
